Tranzurban are proud to bring the first electric battery powered double decker vehicles to Wellington Central, and a first in the Southern Hemisphere. Power, reliability and range of the electric double decker buses are excellent and battery electric buses offer zero-emission, quiet operation and better acceleration compared to traditional buses. They recover braking energy to increase efficiency by a regenerative brake.

Additionally, Tranzit Group spent many months searching the globe for the most environmentally friendly diesel vehicles and the Euro 6 certified buses meet the newest and highest possible global emissions standards. Euro 6 buses reduce harmful exhaust emissions across all vehicles, which principally consists of carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide and particulate matter; three gases which have been found to contribute to global warming. The new Euro 6 fleet will set a new benchmark for public transport in New Zealand, it’s great to have a fleet of brand new buses that are efficient, low-emission and purpose-built for the conditions. Wellington’s going to have the safest, greenest bus fleet to have ever operated on our roads.
