Environmental Promise
Our Commitment to New Zealand
Ensuring our children – and their children – and their children – get to enjoy New Zealand the way we have, is very high on our list of priorities.
As such, the Tranzit family is committed to continuous environmental improvements and awareness. Our Environmental Policy's Commitment states: Our people are committed to protecting our environment for future generations. We will continuously strive to minimise the environmental impact of our operation. We will work to protect and enhance our environment through the considered use of sustainable resources not only within our business, but influence and work towards a green supply chain which will include our suppliers and contractors, as well as our people into their homes.
Our team is also dedicated to promoting responsible tourism and is committed to the Tiaki promise - caring for our people, place and culture. Our Qualmark Gold award, which is awarded to companies that are committed to reducing their main environmental impacts, proves that we don’t just talk the talk, we walk it too.
We are also committed to decarbonising our bus fleet and investing in charging infrastructure to support our growing fleet of electric buses. We operate more than 40 double deck electric buses for Metlink in Wellington, and one for Horizons Regional Council in Palmerston North and one in Auckland. By February 2024, we would have more than doubled our electric bus fleet including partnering with Horizons to introduce New Zealand's first 100% fully electric bus fleet into Palmerston North and Ashhurst in Manawatu.
In addition, and in a Southern Hemisphere first, our workshop team successfully converted a diesel double deck bus to 100% electric - providing an alternative solution to decarbonising bus fleets. This bus is now transporting passengers in Wellington and our workshop team is part way through converting a second repower bus.
Tranzit has been recognised for this work with a number of awards including the 2022 Environmental Excellence Award at the 2 Degrees Wellington Regional Business Excellence Awards and the Young Professional of the Year Award at the 2022 Energy Excellence Awards.

Both drivers, Bruce and Mark, were again outstanding in their work for Tranzit. You can be proud of the way in which these men behave and represent your company. They are always welcome to be a part of our teams! TARANAKI RUGBY LEAGUE
